Today, we proudly take delivery of WILSON ECO I – the very first vessel in Wilson ASA’s new ECO series and the first of 14 vessels in our extensive newbuilding program at Udupi Cochin Shipyard in India.
Designed by Dutch company Conoship International, WILSON ECO I is built according to the CIP3800 design, which places strong emphasis on energy efficiency, operational flexibility, and environmental performance. Equipped with diesel-electric propulsion and prepared for wind-assisted system, the vessel is future-proofed for upcoming innovations.
Importantly, WILSON ECO I scores 30% below the IMO’s required EEDI for 2025, reflecting significant reductions in estimated greenhouse gas emissions per transported cargo unit. It’s an important improvement – and a step in the right direction as we work towards lower-emission maritime operations.
The ECO series includes six 3,800 DWT vessels and will be followed by eight 6,300 DWT vessels, with deliveries spanning from early 2025 through 2028.
With this program, we’re not only expanding our capacity – we’re actively lowering our environmental impact and shaping towards a more sustainable future for shipping.
